Tales of the spooky, supernatural, and unexplained
Ghost Child in Moss Hall
An audio telling by John Burton of the Farmville-Prince Edward Historical Society can be found here.
Although Longwood’s campus is clear of any murderous history, tales are told of spirits walking the university’s grounds. Perhaps one of the saddest stories of the supernatural at Longwood takes place in Moss Hall, formerly known as Curry Hall. Legend has it that a local child was playing and riding his bike in the unfinished high-rise.
The boy rode too close to the opening that would later be the elevator, and he fell to his death. Residents of this building claim that if you take the elevator from the top floor to the basement uninterrupted you can see the little boy and hear his bike bell.
